Timing is everything, and we’ve been fortunate to live in a time period of rapid technological development. We’ve witnessed the transformation of cassette to CD, VHS to DVD, analog to Hi-Def and most importantly, the growth of the internet throughout the past decade. However, advances in technology have developed so quickly, that we often take for granted the remarkable achievements that have been made in such a short period of time.
Individuals like Larry Page and Sergey Brin, co-founders of Google; Mark Zuckerburg, founder of Facebook; Jimmy Wales co-founder of Wikipedia, have developed platforms that will forever change the way we communicate and find information.
Ultimately the power of the internet is not based on its technology, media or even business, but the ability to communicate and build relationships among them.
Faced with an economic recession, our nation also suffers from ignorance to innovation. Companies founded before the internet boom don’t fully understand the power of the internet and importance of establishing an online relationship, and those that do are too young or technologically challenged to prosper from it.
We must learn to take advantage of technology by developing economical solutions to help re-build the small businesses that make up our nation.
